Family Planning
Available from all the Doctors and Nurses during normal surgeries of from the Family Planning clinic on Thursday afternoons; when a specialist Nurse is available.
Emergency contraception is available from pharmacies free of charge, or from the Doctors and Nurses at the surgery.

What Contraceptive services are available?
A complete range of contraceptive services are available including general advice, pills, injections, coils, caps, condoms, implants, female sterilisation counselling, vasectomies, natural methods and emergency contraception.

When are these services available?
Routine Surgeries
Some of the services are available during routine surgeries with either a practice nurse or a GP (see below).

More specialised services (e.g. coils and implants) are available at the family planning clinic. It is not necessary to make an appointment, although helpful if you do.

Who provides contraceptive services?
All the practice nurses have contraception training. They are able to give repeat contraceptive injections, do repeat pill checks, provide condoms, arrange emergency contraception and give general advice.
All the GPs have general contraception training. They can start new prescriptions of the pill or contraceptive injection, prescribe the emergency pill and give general advice.
