Emergencies

What to do in an emercency?

Doctors from the surgery provide emergency cover between 08:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday. At other times, we employ PrimeCare, which is a deputising service. When the surgery is closed you may be asked to attend the 'Out of Hours' centre which is currently based in the Womens Centre at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

In case of emergency please telephone 01325 462272; during surgery hours you will be put in touch with the on-call doctor; at other times the answering machine will give you a number to contact the emergency doctor. Please be prepared to give details of the problem to the receptionist so that the doctor can give appropriate priority to you.

If you are not sure if you need emergency help, try NHS Direct who can guide you. Your local Pharmacist is qualified to give expert advice & can supply many treatments.

If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing or a stroke (weakness on one side), please telephone for an emergency ambulance on 999.
